simple sock knit pattern

Knitting consists of loops called stitches pulled through each other. Sock-knitting machines are used to make socks.

Extra curvature can be introduced into knitted garments without seams, as in the heel of a sock; the effect of darts, flares, etc. Ornamental pieces may also be knitted separately and then attached using applique. Circular knitting needles in three different lengths and sizes.

In weaving, the threads are always straight, running parallel either lengthwise (warp threads) or crosswise (weft threads). Since most of the lace knitting is utilized into shawl, stoles scarves. Knitters have developed methods for giving the illusion of a circular wale, such as appear in Celtic knots, but these are inexact approximations.

Cable patterns are made by permuting the order of stitches; although one or two stitches may be held by hand or knit out of order, cables of three or more generally require a cable needle. This simple pattern is quite basic in that is requires only the knit stitch.

Brainstorm, and figure out which way of teaching would be best for you and your students! Once you learn the basics of knitting, you will want to continue progressing to more advanced stitches and knitting patterns.
