Now it's a fun, creative hobby for anyone. Knitters were first believed to have begun their craft in the first few centuries AD.
This is my version of instructions for the two basic knitting stitches but I have found that it is hard to use a few written instructions. If they are not secured, the loops of a knitted course will come undone when their yarn is pulled; this is known as ripping out or unravelling knitting. The pattern is knit first stitch, purl next stitch and repeat until the row is knit.
You will know how to do something that not many people know how to do, but might wish they did. Sock knitting machines are antiques and they are not made any more. Wrap the knitting yarn around the tip of the right knitting needle, crossing over the two needles and hanging once again in front.
Even if you're a pretty proficient knitter, this isn't the time to learn a new technique or work with a skinny fingering-weight yarn that will take forever to knit up. You'll be amazed at how much faster the second, third, and fourth version of the same pattern can be.
