wrist warmers knit pattern

Let me start by introducing you to the five stitch types that I believe are at the very heart of knitting! As we know, all knitted fabrics are made using two basic stitches, knit and purl.

Two courses of red yarn illustrating two basic fabric types. Sock knitting machines are antiques and they are not made any more. Tools for measuring needle diameter and yarn properties have been discussed above, as well as the yarn swift, ballwinder and "yarntainers".

In securing the previous stitch in a wale, the next stitch can pass through the previous loop either from below or above. Cable needles are typically very short (a few inches), and are used to hold stitches temporarily while others are being knitted. You can also knit mittens, scarves using the sock-knitting machine.

Even if you're a pretty proficient knitter, this isn't the time to learn a new technique or work with a skinny fingering-weight yarn that will take forever to knit up. So, if you want to slow down, and find meaning in your life again, try knitting.
